Welcome to Hotel Schwanstein in Schwangau

In our area there are lots of sights and activities for the whole familiy

Castle Hohenschwangau - built in the 12th Century as Fort Schwanstein - lies between the Alpsee and Schwansee lakes. It was here that king Ludwig II spent his youth.

Between 1869 and 1886, he had Castle Neuschwanstein built. This has become one of the most important sights in germany. About 5 minutes away on foot from the Castle is the Maria Bridge, 90 m above the Pollat Falls, from which one has wonderful views of the Castle, and the 45 m high waterfall. The parking places for the Royal Castles are about 5 minutes by car from our hotel.

Since 1969, concerts take place every year in september in the Music Room of Castle Neuschwanstein. These are mostly performances of operas by Richard Wagner. About 5 minutes on foot from the hotel, you will find the Early Barock Church, St. Coloman.

If you just want to relax and enjoy the nature, you can take a walk in the 18 hectare gardens. For those who wants to do more walking, Schwangau offers about 120 km of walking and hiking paths, or you can hire a bicycle nearby and discover the 90 km of cycle tracks.

Next to the gardens, there is the Royal Crystal Thermal Bath. The sauna area contains five themed saunas, two steam baths and a Turkish bath. You will also find many spa water pools and a precious stone meditation room, with about 10 tonnes of built-in precious stones. You can also spoil yourself with a massage.

In summer you can bath, sail, or winsurf in one of the 6 lakes which are so close to Schwangau, or take advantage of the boat trips from Füssen on the Forggen Lake.

In winter, you can take advantage of 7 large and 2 small drag lifts, as well as the cable car, on the Tegel mountain, and many ski slopes with prepared snow.

About 20 minutes away by car is the Wies Church, the jewel of Bavarian rokkoko, built between 1764 and 1754. A round trip to the Ettal Monastery and Castle Linderhof (about 130 km) is recommended.
